How to reach Joshimath:

 

  • By Air: The nearest airport to Haridwar is Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun. Visitors can fly to Dehradun directly from Mumbai or Delhi, or via connecting flights from anywhere in India. Local vehicles can be hired outside the airport to take you from Dehradun to Haridwar by road.

 

  • Getting to Haridwar by Rail By Train – Haridwar Junction Railway Station (IR station code: HW) has frequent trains to Delhi (4-5 hours) and Dehradun (1 hour). Rishikesh is also served by a few trains per day.

 

  • By Road: Haridwar is well connected by road to all major cities and towns, so people can take the bus to Haridwar according to their preference and comfort. A good road network connects Haridwar to Chandigarh (205 kilometres), Delhi (210 kilometres), Dehradun (59 kilometres), and Nainital (223 kilometres).

 

  • Note : You can get to Joshimath from Haridwar by bus or taxi. Transportation from Jannattrips is available at an additional cost.

Know Before You Go for Pangarchulla Trek

 

  • With the assistance of guides, general precautions and steps should be taken to begin good acclimatisation.
  • Those with a heart condition, diabetes, breathing problems, high altitude sickness, or who are pregnant are not permitted to participate in this trek.
  • The state government’s guidelines must be followed.
  • Please bring a valid ID with you when you check in.
  • The exact location will be communicated to you after you have made your reservation.
  • Ascertain proper waste disposal.
  • Be respectful of local cultures and wildlife.
  • Personal trekking equipment and extra oxygen cans can also be purchased at an additional cost.
  • Extra porters can be hired for an additional fee per day to carry personal belongings throughout the trek.
  • If you prefer your own sleeping bag, you can purchase new sleeping bags at a reasonable price from the store.
  • Transportation from Haridwar to Joshimath is available at an additional cost.

Itinerary

Day 1  Drive from Haridwar – Joshimath (6,750ft, drive of 256 km, 9 hour)

  •  Altitude: 6,750 ft, distance: 256 km, time: approximately 9 hours
  • Trekkers will be picked up in a Tata Sumo or a similar vehicle from Haridwar at 6:30 a.m. (cost is not included) / Arrive in Joshimath around 5 p.m. – (tea, briefing of the trek & dinner)
  • On the way, we’ll eat breakfast and lunch (exclusive of charges)
  • The guest house provides lodging.
  • The telephone network is operational.

 

Day 2 Drive from Joshimath to Dhak village 10 km. Then trek uphill to Gulling 6 km.

 

  • Drive 10 kilometres (30 minutes) to Dhak (7000 feet). 6 km, 5 hours to Guling (9,650 ft). Camp elevation: 9,650 ft. Time required: approximately 6 hours The trek’s gradient is moderate. Water sources: In Kharchi village, you can fill your bottles.
  • Begin your day with a delicious breakfast and then drive 10 kilometres to the point where you can begin hiking to Guling.
  • Witness the massive mountains in front of you, as well as the most pampered mountain, known as Sleeping Lady Mountain; God’s creation is simply amazing.
  • Continue trekking through verdant forests teeming with a variety of bird species from the meadows to the lovely prairies.
  • Climb down to another swath of thickets filled with Oak, Chestnut, Deodar, and Maple trees.
  • Continue walking on the path and you will see the magnificent Dronagiri peak, which will make your heart skip a beat, and later we will arrive at Gulling top, our destination for the day.
  • Set up camp in tents and spend the night under the starry sky.

Day 3 Guling to Kuari Pass, 5 hours – return to lower Khullara camp – total 12 Km- 6/7 hours

 

  • Guling (9,650 ft) to Kuari Pass (5 hours) – return to lower Khullara camp (11,100 ft) – total distance of 12 km (6/7 hours). Camp 
  • elevation: 11,070 ft. Time required: approximately 10 hours The trek’s gradient is moderate. Water sources: Bring your own bottles of water.
  • Begin with an early breakfast before beginning your Kuari pass trek, which will take you up pastures painted in various shades of green and dotted with shepherds and their sheep grazing.
  • Continue hiking for an additional three hours to reach Kuari Pass.
  • Following that, you can either proceed directly to Kuari Pass or to another vantage point for scenic views of the surrounding area.
  • Following that, descend to the base camp of Pangarchula peak, from which you can see Chaukhamba, Kedarnath, Neelkanth, Haathi-Ghodi, Kamet, Mana, and Dronagiri.
  • Set up your tents for the night at the lower khullara camp’s base camp.

Day 4 Lower Khullara to Pangarchulla summit (15069 ft), 6 hours and back to lower Khullara – total 12 Km – 10/11 hours

  • Lower Khullara (11,100 ft) to Pangarchulla summit (15069 ft) in 6 hours and back to lower Khullara in 12/14 hours. A strenuous and difficult summit day. 
  • Altitude : 15,069 feet Time required: approximately 15 hours The trek gradient ranges from moderate to difficult. Water sources: Bring your own bottles of water.
  • Begin your day around 5:00 a.m. with a hearty breakfast, after which you can begin your day’s trek by ascending mountain slopes to reach a ridge that will take you to the summit.
  • This difficult climb winds through uneven rocky terrain.
  • Due to the early start, walk across deep snowy paths and be awestruck by the clear mesmeric views during dawn.
  • The Mt. Nanda Devi, Trishul, and Changabhang peaks are a sight to behold on this route to the top of the Pangarchulla peak.
  • Spend some time marvelling at the wonders before continuing your walk down to the camp.
  • Celebrate the trek’s success and unwind here once you’ve arrived at the camp.
  • If you arrive at the base camp early enough, you can even choose to trek down to Khullara.
  • Spend the night in your tent, in the comfort of your own home.

Day 5 Lower Khullara to Auli via Gurson Bugyal – 10 Km – 5/6 hours – drive to Joshimath, 45 mins /14 Km

 

  • Lower Khullara (11,100 ft) to Auli (8600 ft) via Gurson Bugyal, 5/6 hours – 10 Km – Joshimath drive 45 minutes
  • 11000 ft. in altitude Time required: approximately 7 hours The trek’s gradient is moderate. Water sources: Bring your own bottles of water.
  • Begin your day with a hearty breakfast before setting out on a trek to the road that connects Joshimath to the Niti-Malari valley.
  • Hike through dense thickets and charming villages all the way to Gurson Bugyal. You can even stop in the villages of Tugasi and Kharsi to learn more about the locals and their indigenous culture.
  • Travel by car to Joshimath, where your lodge will greet you with a hot meal and a steam shower. This is where you will be able to live.

Day 6 Drive from Joshimath- Haridwar (6750 ft, drive of 256 km, 9 hour) 

  •  After breakfast, return to Haridwar and bid farewell to the Pangarchulla peak trek via the kuari pass and its snowy surroundings.
  • The only constant throughout the journey will be Mother Nature and her beauty in your mind and soul, which has filled you with excitement throughout the journey.
  • Continue on to your destination, bringing this thrilling Pangarchula Peak trek via Kuari Pass to a close.
  • Please keep in mind that our 6-day itinerary includes both the Pangarchulla peak climb and a visit to the actual Kuari pass. However, it is dependent on the team’s performance, as well as snow and weather conditions.
